Morgoth všechny rody, jednoho po druhém ničil. Jedinou možností bylo sjednocení a vytvoření Maedhrosovi unie. Ne všichni se k ní ovšem přidali. Stále si uvědomovali, že Maedher je jedním z prokletých synů Fëanora a moc mu nevěřili. Tak unie složená z rodů elfů a lidí vytáhla proti temnému Morgothovi.
